Extreme Couponing Preview 10/12

Extreme Couponing logo
It’s Wednesday y’all and you know what that means… TLC’s hit show Extreme Couponing airs TONIGHT, Wednesday at 10 p.m. Tonight’s episode features Callie, a cajun-couponer who tells her children bedtime stories filled with coupons and savings. Huh? And did we mention she uses thousands of coupons every week?

Watch tonights preview of Extreme Couponing now!

Here are some of my tips to live by when watching the show and while out shopping:

  • Don’t buy out the newspaper stand. Personally, 1 or 2 Sunday newspapers filled with coupons is enough for me to score some awesome deals for myself and my family. Don’t over do it by buying 15 or 20 papers on a single Sunday. Give others a chance to score a paper or two!
  • Don’t clear shelves. Walking into a grocery store and clearing a full shelf of toothpaste (or any item) is not cool. The show may portray these individuals as, “Wow, they just scored 100 boxes of  FREE!”. It’s all for show. Lets give everyone the chance to score these amazing deals!
  • Stockpiling. It’s ok to have a stockpile, but don’t over do it. There is no reason why anyone should have a 9 year supply of toilet paper sitting around. Deals come around more often than you think, so stick to holding on to a 2-3 month supply.
  • Donate. If you have a big enough stockpile, and you think you may not come around to using it all, donate it to a friend, a local church or shelter. Don’t let stuff go to waste!
  • Be positive. Don’t let this show or anyone ruin your experiences and passion for couponing. A lot of coupon-related changes have taken place since the shows premier but we must move on and never give up.
  • Finally, let not forget Extreme Coupning is ENTERTAINMENT, folks.

We’d love to know, will you be watching tonight?

yes, I agree with all the tips. It’s not cool to clear out the shelf. I just hate to watch the show. They should just cancel that show or show something that positive for other.

nothing worse than trying to get one bottle of laundry detergent and seeing the lady in check out with a buggy full of them. UGH! share people, share!

They really should have the show goes towards teaching the everyday shopper the proper way to use coupons. Many coupons now have wording that limits the number of products you can get per shopping trip. The newbies to couponing watching this show can pick up some bad habits. We want everyone to be able to use coupons if they choose too. Just one bad apple can make a cashier coupon unfriendly. It’s time for the show to listen to the average coupon shopper.

I agree with not overdoing your stock pile. Last season one lady had her husbands office full of the ramen noodle type meals… Just to have them & because they were ‘free’. I thought it was so pathetic to have a supply of something you can’t possibly go through. I mean who wants to eat that many noodles?… if you’re going to do that, give them to a foodbank. I think this show should be linked to Hoarders & no, I did not watch last night!! lol

What used to get me is that someone would clear the shelf of the baby formula I NEEDED. My daughter could ONLY use Similac Alimentum Ready to Feed – it’s hard to come by as it is (my store usually only ever had about 4 bottles MAX). Never failed that when I was desperate for a bottle, they wouldn’t have any on the shelves. I’m not sure if it was someone clearing the shelf, or just poor stocking on the store’s part, but it always really ticked me off. It’s a special formula for babies – don’t you think there might be another baby in the area that would need it?

When I did get an amazing deal on it (at Rite Aid), I ORDERED what I needed – I didn’t clear the shelf. The manager was an absolute sweetheart of a man and even carried the cases to the car for me. He really respected that I wanted to leave some bottles for other people who may need it.

Show respect and you will be treated with respect. 🙂
