USDA Health Alert for Foster Farms Chicken 2013

OCTOBER 7, 2013 – USDA has issued a nationwide health alert for Foster Farms Chicken brand products. Please note there is NO recall at this time but the suspected packages would read: P6137, P6137A or P7632 . What’s the reason? May contain strains of Salmonella. TIP: Cooking chicken to 165-degrees kills the Salmonella bacteria.

If you have any of the brand of products stated, I guess you can try returning it to your store of purchase or contact Foster Farms at 800-338-8051 for more information.

    Understand the higher counts account for the illnesses against std. But don’t understand why there isn’t a recall. Salmonella can be detected at the breeder level which should raise a red flag right off the gate…..so the company should know what strain is being detected at the breeder level and divert those eggs to breakers, correct. Why even risk the strain of salmonella if it does not respond to antibiotics.
