BARNES & NOBLE: *HOT* HP TouchPad for ONLY $101 (down from $499) + 6% Cash Back!

UPDATE: Sold out! 🙁

Oh my word… Barnes & Nobles website, BN.com has the HP TouchPad Tablet with 16GB Memory, WiFi 1.2GHz – Black, similar to an iPad priced at ONLY $101 (down from $499) + shipping + earn 4% cash back when you shop through ShopAtHome.com or 6% Cash Back when you shop through Ebates (log in or join, search “Barnes & Noble” then shop through their unique ‘Shop Now’ link and finally search for the item). All new members get a $5 bonus!

Staples even had it dropped to $49 and it apparently hasn’t went live yet. I’m not 100% sure.

NOTE: This item will reportedly be discontinued which is reason for price drop but I guess we shall wait and see. Cancellations should be expected.

The WebOS system (HP’s answer to the Android system) is what is discontinued. Then the tablets. It is highly doubtful that people/companies will make new apps for a system that is now defunct.

The staples link doesn’t work? Goes to an error page at Staples website.

I agree with Dawn…these tablets will be defunct…HP had announced they stopped making them because lack of interest ad developers not making apps for them.

I would think twice before buying. This item will soon be obsolete because HP is discontinuing all production and support for it , as well as the Palm platform (no more Palm Pre cell phones). I read about this on Mashable.com https://mashable.com/2011/08/18/hp-shutting-down-webos/

Now if they drop it to $50 or below, I might just be inclined, lol!

I just got an email saying they didn’t have enough for the unexpected demand

Well, it was a moot point for me. I went through all the mumbo jumbo to order it, only to have my order cancelled. Lovely.

It’s possible that more inventory may be released at a later date, and while the support of WebOS will eventually be discontinued, you can still snap up apps while they’re available. Another option would be to remove WebOS and replace it with the latest version of Android, once a port is made available (which should be sooner than later based on the Touchpad’s recently popularity).
